What is Shuem Soul Experience?
Shuem Soul Experience offers a complete wellbeing program that includes blissful spa therapies, yoga classes, exquisite healthy meals and activities that support the mind, body and soul. Rejuvenate, reconnect, transform and find inner peace and radiance with a retreat that focuses on your personal needs and goals.
What’s included?
You’ll enjoy a 9 day all-inclusive healing and wellbeing retreat package in Bali. Airport pick up and drop off , all transport to and from the sacred places with car with private female fun driver, Luxury villa or hotel accommodation, daily healing sessions, healing rituals in sacred places and temples, sessions with local Healers/ Spirit medium, traditional herbal medicines, delicious breakfasts and lunches, use of ritual dress, Balinese massage and more. There are no hidden costs. Dinners are left open to allow guests to sample some of Bali’s fantastic eating experiences.

How much does it cost?
There are no hidden costs at Shuem Soul Experience. Luxury has never been so affordable with all inclusive packages starting from just US$2.695,- per person.
How do I get to the retreat?
The airport code is DPS – Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. We provide airport transfers to retreat on the first day of the retreat and on the final day of the retreat. If you are arriving from or departing to other accommodation in Bali, we are able to provide a complimentary transfers.
What age and nationality is a ‘typical guest’? What about solo travellers?
Typically, our guests range in age from mid 20’s – to late forties. However, we have had many younger and older guests visit that have loved their time here also.
What unites guests at Shuem Soul Experience is not so much their age or nationality; but rather, their fun loving attitude and spirit for adventure and the wisdom they share.
About 70% of our guests are solo travellers. Most of our guests make firm friends, staying in touch long after their retreat finishes. Shuem Soul Experience is a safe and ideal place to stay as a solo woman traveller.
How much money should I bring?
As this is an all-inclusive Bali retreat, the only things you will need to pay for are any incidentals (such as alcoholic drinks, extra specialized treatments or services) and the meals not included where you get to explore some of the fabulous restaurants nearby.
Is there an age minimum?
Yes, guests must be 18 years or older to attend Shuem Soul Experience unless otherwise agreed to by management and under supervision of a guardian.
Do you offer discounts?
We do offer discounts for early reservations and for groups of four or more. We also offer a discount and special inclusions for our treasured previous guests (alumnae).
What is the weather like in Bali?
We have 2 distinct seasons here in Bali where the temperature for both is around 90°F / 30°C. ‘Dry’ season, April – November, is beautifully sunny and warm during the day and refreshingly cool at night (rarely lower than 24°C). ‘Green’ season welcomes a daily shower which keeps Bali beautiful and blooming with greenery! These showers are nothing to fret over, in fact, they can be a blessing in disguise! A great time to indulge in some pampering or shopping!
What about shopping?
Bali is renowned for its amazing array of shopping from markets through to beautiful boutiques at affordable prices. Many are just a short stroll from your villa or hotel.
I heard that women on their periods cannot enter a Balinese temple. Is this true?
Yes, Women who are on their periods CAN NOT enter a temple, please plan your retreat around your natural cycle!
If I am pregnant, can I come to the retreat?
Yes, you can come to the retreat, however please do not come when you are over 5 months pregnant, for the healing sessions are very powerful and we do not want to initiate a pre plannend birth.
Is it mandatory to participate in all your Shuem Soul Experience activities?
All our retreat activities at Shuem Soul Experience are optional, so it’s up to you how much or how little you do. You choose the level of activity or rejuvenation to fit your goals and ideals. After a week-long healing retreat you’ll feel healed, recharged and ready to face the world again!
What is a typical day like at the retreat?
Your day will depend on which package you choose from. Below is a rough guideline of times, or view the individual retreats for more details.
- 7:30 am – Yoga, surf or fitness session
- 9:00 am – Fresh, bountiful breakfast
- 10:00 am – Chosen package activity such as surf, yoga workshops, Ayurveda treatment, spa treatments, free time.
- 12:30 pm – Delicious lunch
- 1:30-7:00 pm – Afternoon free to follow your bliss – activities vary in the afternoon and include; afternoon excursions, spa treatments, yoga class, shopping, or simply lounging by the pool or beach.
- 7:00 pm – Dinner and Dessert

Will I have internet access?
There will be a WiFi internet connection in your accommodation, and it is possible to purchase a G4 sim card for your phone. These are very affordable (<$10)
Please bring your own laptop or mobile if you would like to be online, make sure your devices are SIM-unlocked and supports use in foreign countries.
I am vegan/vegetarian!
All restaurants offer vegan/vegetarian options! Ubud and Bali in general are renowned for their excellent vegan and vegetarian cuisine, all at very reasonable prices.
I’m looking at flights to book. When should I plan to arrive and depart?
If you’d like to arrive in Bali a day earlier (many of our guests do this), or stay extra days afterwards, we can arrange this with the hotel, or you can make your own plan.
If you are staying in another hotel before or after the retreat, we will arrange transfers between your hotel and the retreat. Extra costs may be incurred if your hotel is not centrally located.
What if I have injuries? Do I have to participate in all of the activities?
Bali is not wheelchair accessible, and being able to walk reasonably well is a must if you want to enjoy the full itinerary of this retreat.
Please contact us if you have any hesitations regarding mobility.
What level of fitness is required?
Please be aware that you will need to be able to walk up and down steps. Our day trip involves visits to temples and sacred places, some of which have several steps which requires a moderate level of fitness.
I’ve never tried meditation and healing exercises will I be able to understand and do the exercises?
Stefan is an experienced teacher who can translate spiritual lingo into understandable language. Part of his skill is in showing you that anyone can do this. You’ll be given lots of simple, practical exercises and meditation that will get you feeling blissful in no time!
Why are prices higher for the July/ August retreats?
The higher price for July & August covers a high season surcharge that we have to meet for the accommodation.
Why are the prices in US dollars?
The US$ is the best recognized currency. With pricing in US$ we can offer an uniform price, no matter where you are coming from.
I am non religious, can i participate?
Although we will visit many temples and perform rituals, there is no need to believe in God. Obviously we are all part of life, it makes no difference wether you call this God, Life, Love or The Universe. We will help you to connect and be inspired regardless of your paradigms, without forcing you to believe anything.
Can I request a customized package?
Absolutely! Shuem Soul Experience is an individual retreat that prides itself on accommodating guests needs. If you have a special request please do not hesitate to contact us directly and we can discuss your needs.
What do I need to bring for this trip?

Laundry service is inexpensive and plentiful, so you’re better off to pack light.
Do I get any free time on the retreat?
Yes, we have reserved the afternoon for you to do your own thing — whether that’s reading your favorite novel on the beach, browsing the beautiful artisan shops, or simply having a nap. You will have time off every day, a typical day consists of 2 activities and one depart off.
When should I book my returning flight?
If you like, you might like to extend your stay for a few more days to explore the island. we can offer suggestions where to go/ what to do and help you to arrange your further travels.
What happens if I book the retreat and can’t go?
Up to 4 months before travel: full refund minus a $650 cancellation fee.
4—2 months before travel: there will be a 50% cancellation fee.
Less than 2 months before travel: no refund.
* Please make sure to get appropriate travel insurance to cover calamities and accidents, just in case!
Can I bring a friend who is not participating in the program?
Yes of course, but please bear in mind that many of the activities and conversations we’ll be having are related to healing. Also, the participant cannot join the program, unless they book it.
How do I book my flights and travel insurance?
Book online with the airlines and travel insurance companies, or you can go to a travel agent and they can book them for you. I am also happy to help you book online if you contact us.
Is a cheeky glass of wine or a few beers allowed? Can i go out for a drink whilst on the retreat?
Of course! Just make sure you’re fit enough to participate the next day.
Are flights included?
No. As our guests come from all over the world flights are not included, all our guests arrange their own flights.
Do i have to organise my own transport from the airport to the retreat?
On the first day of the retreat we offer pickups and also organise drop offs on the last day.
This is my first retreat, is that okay? I’m an advanced practitioner, is that okay?
Shuem Soul Experience can create a retreat experience that welcomes beginners and honors experienced practitioners. We tend to get a beautiful mix of levels on each retreat.
Do I need a visa?
Yes, a visa is required for Indonesia. A visa-upon-arrival system is in place for most countries including Australia, Canada, US & EU citizens. When you arrive at the airport in Denpasar you will either enter the Visa-on-arrival line, where you will be asked for U$25.00 and your passport will be stamped for 30 days from the date of arrival (the fastest way to pass the immigration, and can be extended for another 30 days) or obtain a free 30 day visum (longer waiting lines).
* Please make sure your passport is VALID FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS and has at least 5 empty pages in it.
If I want to get the early bird price do I have to pay in full or just the deposit? When is the remainder due?
You only need to put the deposit down to lock in the Early Bird price. The remainder will be do 60 days prior to the retreat start day.
What if I have to cancel?

Can I come with a group?
Yes, On request we can organise a group retreat for you, please contact us to discuss possibilities
Can I use ATM’s / money exchange?
ATM’s
In Bali, especially in the urban areas, ATM’s are ubiquitous and you will have no trouble finding one that supports withdrawal. Please make sure your card(s) are unlocked for use in Indonesia!
Exchanging money
Probably best to wait until you get to the airport in Denpasar. There are bureaus where you can exchange cash or travelers cheques, and ATMs are everywhere that take Cirrus and Plus. Please tell your bank and credit card companies the dates that you will be in Bali or elsewhere, as they might cut off your funds for fraud protection if they don’t know it is you. Asia loves Visa or Master Card.The exchange rate is approximately Rp.12,000 = US$1.00. Basically, things cost a lot less in Bali.
Is Bali safe?
Bali is the only Hindu island in Indonesia, Bali is being touted by many international travel magazines.
The Balinese people are among the most friendly in the world. As for safety in the streets, there is little violent crime, especially in Ubud. In beach areas one has to take precautions against pickpockets, just as most beach tourist spots in the world.
Are there any health concerns I need to be aware of?
It is recommended that you visit your GP, personal physician or a travel health clinic 4 to 8 weeks before your departure to Indonesia. Recommended vaccinations often include hepatitis A, typhoid, tetanus and polio.
Bali is not a high-risk area for malaria and the tablets can be considered controversial, we recommend that you do some research and make your own decision on this. Dengue fever is another mosquito borne illness to be made aware of.
Bring good mosquito repellant. Although you can buy great (organic) repellant here.
What if I need to see a doctor?
There are plenty of international medical clinics in Bali – especially in Ubud .
It is always wise to purchase travelers health insurance with evacuation coverage.
FYI: Bali is a top destination for Australian Medical Tourism as the facilities are up to standard.
What about sanitation?
Any hotel or home stay will have bottled or filtered water available, and 99% of restaurants on the island use bottled water for all cooking purposes.
What is the electrical currency/outlet in Bali?
Bali utilizes the standard European outlet.
